Tunnel Reef and Coral Garden (10 to 18m – 30 to 60ft)
Transfer: about 15 minutes. Both dive sites have deep channels in the
reef and several holes where crabs, lobster and here and there big fish
can hide. |
 |
Los Coquitos (10 to 24m – 30 to 80ft)
Transfer: about 10 minutes. Colourful mixed schools of fish are
waiting for the divers and swim with us during the dive. They are the
dive sites with the most fish and stingrays are seen often. |
 |
Mini Wall and Las Rocas (8 to 20m – 25 to 70ft)
Transfer: about 20 minutes. Both sites are located directly opposite the
Hotel Melia. Because they start at 8m/25ft they are well suited for
beginners. For experienced divers we can descend over a little wall to a
depth of 16 to 20m/45 to 70ft, there we find several big coral blocks on
a huge sand area with beautiful corals and sponges. |
 |
Punta Margarita and Little Fish Hill (12 to 36m – 40 to 130ft)
Transfer: about 10 minutes. More or less flat reef with some big
coral blocks. Nice place for deeper dives. |
 |
Discovery Reef and Melia Point (14 to 34m – 45 to 130ft)
Transfer: about 20 minutes. Quiet reef with the possibility for
surprises. With a little luck we see barracudas in schools of jacks and bogas. |
 |
El Abysmo (20 to 40+m – 70 to 140+ft)
Transfer: about 25 minutes. THE site for deep dives on the south coast.
It’s a small “mountain ridge” with a changing width from 2 to
20m/6 to 70ft. |
 |
Wreck “Alto Velo” (14m – 45ft)
Transfer: about 25 minutes. This small wreck of a former tug boat is
located between the villages of Juan Dolio and Boca Chica (transfer by
boat approx. 40 minutes) lays slightly leaning to it’s starboard side on
a big sand area in 14m/50ft. Because the “Alto Velo” found it’s
last resting place more than 10 years ago it is a beautiful wreck covered
with corals and sponges.
Inside the bridge you still can read some of the instruments, otherwise
the bridge is empty. Around and in the whole superstructure you find so
many fish that sometimes you’re not able to see the wreck. Often we
have encounters with the resident green moray eel. |
 |
Wreck “Tanya V” (33m – 100ft)
Transfer: about 15 minutes. The perfect conserved cargo ship (sugar) was
sunken in 1999 especially for us divers. The 50m/150ft long Tanya lays
straight on its keel in a max. depth of 33m/100ft. In the wreck itself
there are some “big guys” like big green moray eels and a
more than 2m/6ft grouper. |
 |
Catalina Island “The Wall”
(3 to 40+m – 10 to 140+ft)
Excursion: Great wall diving with big sea fans and even black coral. The
top of the reef with its depth of 3 to 7m/10 to 20ft is an excellent
spot for snorkelers while the divers descend along the edge into the
crystal clear depths. |
 |
Excursion: In the clear waters you’ll find a shallow reef covered with
corals and sponges ideal for U/W photographers. |
